History
Founded in 1967, the Greater Lansing Catholic Education Foundation (GLCEF) under its original name of the Non-Public Schools Foundation was formed to provide non-governmental financial support to Lansing area Catholic schools. The funding was originally designated for teacher professional development, scholarships to worthy students, and other needs.
In 1980, a reorganized Foundation focused on securing the financial future of Lansing Catholic Central. In 1986, the Board of Trustees recognized the connection between Catholic formation at the elementary level and the high school and the mission was expanded to include financial support for 15 area Catholic Schools, religious education, and Lansing Catholic Central. The Foundation is a non-profit corporation commissioned by the Bishop of Lansing to encourage and support Catholic education in the Lansing area.
